Let me show you a couple of storyboards for the pitch video for our film project, “Not Losing You” by Isaac Prevatt, a talented young storyboard artist in Los Angeles.
A pitch video is a short “pitch” where we’ll make the case for our project to seek funding — I’ve done a couple of these before including this one for Kickstarter when we took our Off B’way play, “The Bus” to perform near the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas.
As anybody who has had to sell an idea to seek funding will tell you, these are super hard to do. Your pitch has to be quick, concise, and make a clear case for why your project deserves to be funded. A reality TV show called Shark Tank has thrived for over a decade pitting entrepreneurs against each other as they pitch for funding.

So why is our project important? The recent wave of anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ legislation has worsened the problem of rising rates of teen anxiety and depression.
What do we hope to accomplish? Added support for rural teens and families in red states affected by anti-trans legislation. Let’s give these kids and families some hope.
What makes our project unique? Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, we’ve begun casting a group of teens for our pitch video including some who identify as transgender. Because our pitch will be political and pointed in nature, the teens’ faces will be obscured and no teen will be identified — our fraught and divided political times demand this.
Also if you’re in the Burlington VT area and know of any young people or teens who would like to be considered to be in our pitch video (I’m especially seeking trans and gender fluid teens and young people) let me know through the contact at my website: www.jameslantz.com.
